TXWA is proud to announce a special volunteer opportunity we have planned in conjunction with VERTICOM and The Visiting Nurse's Association (VNA) in Dallas on Thursday November 19th, 2015. VNA is a nonprofit organization that helps our elderly neighbors and loved ones maintain their independence by providing the services that allow them to age where they are happiest and most comfortable - at home. By contributing our time to VNA, we are helping to ensure that people who are chronically ill or disabled, recovering from illness, or in the final days of life, receive nutritious meals and medical care in their home no matter their ability to pay.
On Thursday 11.19.15, for three hours starting at 10:30am, our group will engage in a team-building opportunity while we deliver meals to homebound, hungry seniors. Volunteers not only serve as the eyes and ears for VNA Meals on Wheels, they also help improve our delivery efficiency. It costs $1,500 to feed a senior for an entire year. For every route a volunteer delivers in lieu of a paid driver, VNA can save enough money to feed a new senior for an entire week!
Please join TXWA in supporting this day of giving Thursday November 19th at 10:30am at the VNA Haggerty kitchen located at 1440 W Mockingbird Ln # 500, Dallas, TX 75247. For more information, please visit https://www.vnatexas.org.
